MORONGO BASIN MAC DISCUSSES ILLEGAL MARIJUANA GROWING ENFORCEMENT

The Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council met last night for the final meeting of 2019. The lightly attended meeting featured reports from County Fire, Morongo Valley CSD Fire Department, CAL Fire, CHP and the Sheriff Department. During the Sheriff’s report, there was much discussion and concern about illegal marijuana growing operations and that the department had begun to cross-train their deputies in narcotics enforcement.

Pioneertown representative Steve Bardwell announced that the long-dormant Red Dog Saloon would be open for business next March, likely serving breakfast and lunch.

Resident Jane Jarlsberg suggested there should be a water report at the monthly meetings.

Resident Gail Austin announced that there would be a meeting about the Panorama Heights Fire Station tonight, December 10, at 6 p.m. at the Sportsman’s Club, 6225 Sunburst Street in Joshua Tree.

The next MAC meeting will be held January 13.
