At a sparsely attended meeting Monday night, the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council denounced a BLM plan on access routes in the western Mojave Desert. Reporter Dan Stork describes the objections…
With two members absent, and two seats unfilled, the Morongo Basin MAC barely had a quorum to hear a resolution against the Bureau of Land Management’s favored alternative for a route access network in the Western Mojave region. The resolution was written by Desert Heights MAC representative (and environmental advocate) Pat Flanagan. Flanagan’s resolution emphasized that the BLM had not consulted San Bernardino County in designating county roads in the route plan, and that communities whose quality of life might be affected by an influx of off-highway vehicles had not been consulted either. The council approved the resolution.
In a public safety report, CHP Officer Joan Griffin advised that the CHP is enforcing the click-it-or-ticket law in earnest, and will be on the lookout for seat belt violations.
