Hang out on the edge of your seat and under the stars this Friday night at the Morongo Basin Historical Society’s movie series. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has more…
The Morongo Basin Historical Society’s Friday night movie series under the stars spotlights Hollywood gems with local ties. This Friday, July 21, features Barbara Stanwyck, a real woman’s woman of the Old West, in “A Woman in Jeopardy.” In this 1953 film noir directed by John Sturges, Stanwyck’s silver screen husband is trapped in his race car on a pier and the tide is coming in. Stanwyck’s character seeks help, only to become the captive of a prison escapee. See if you can spot the scene filmed locally; safe money says it’s not the pier scene. Admission includes the film, popcorn and a soft drink. Members pay $10; non-members pay $12. Gate opens at 7:30 p.m. Film starts at dark. Benches provided, or bring your own lawn chair. The Historical Society is in Landers at 632 Landers Lane, just south of the Landers Post Office.
