Morongo Basin Conservation Association extends 2025 scholarship deadline to April 18th

Are you a graduating Morongo Basin high school senior? Do you plan on continuing your higher education in a major that can impact environmental conservation? The Morongo Basin Conservation Association, or MBCA – will be awarding three $1000 scholarships for students who have a strong interest in environmental and conservation issues – with a strong preference for technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, and they’ve extended the deadline until April 18.

The MBCA says that one of the three scholarships will be awarded to an arts major in memory of local artist and conservationist Steve Rieman who passed away in August of 2022.

Students interested in applying for a scholarship must have at least a 2.5 GPA and must submit an application which includes an essay demonstrating how environmental conservation relates to their educational and career goals.

Applicants must also submit at least two current letters of recommendation; one must be from a teacher and the second may be from a teacher, counselor, school administrator, employer, coach, or community leader.

The application must be completed and submitted by 11:59 PM on Friday, April 18, 2025.
