The Morongo Basin station of the California Highway Patrol in Joshua Tree will hold an open house Saturday, May 19. Residents will have the opportunity to meet the station’s new commander, Lieutenant Taylor Cooper. The open house will include a commercial vehicle inspection unit, a K-9 demonstration, CHP motorcycle demonstration, and a static display of the CHP helicopter. Information about the CHP Explorer and senior volunteer programs will be available. The open house is from 8 to noon.
