The chief of the Morongo Basin Ambulance Association, Matthew Welsh, will be the guest on the Z107.7 “Up Close” show tomorrow. In July, the County grand jury released its report for 2018 that included an investigation and subsequent recommendation regarding ambulance provider contract areas in our county. Their recommendation calls for sweeping and unprecedented changes in the way the ill and injured citizens and visitors of our county are taken care of. The recommendation highlighted what has been an ongoing discussion for five years about ambulance contract areas. Welsh will talk about the county Emergency Medical Services and MBA’s role as the EMS agency in the basin since 1948. The Morongo Basin Ambulance Association, a non-profit corporation, is the sole provider of 9-1-1 emergency ambulance services to Joshua Tree, Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms, Morongo Valley, Pioneertown, Rimrock, Flamingo Heights, Landers, Johnson Valley, Wonder Valley and Amboy. The “Up Close” show, a live, call-in talk show running for 29 consecutive years, starts at 10:05 tomorrow morning here on Z107.7.
