MORE THAN 6000 AFFECTED BY WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGE THURSDAY

Many Morongo Basin residents were rattled by a widescale power outage yesterday (August 19). According to outage reports from Southern California Edison, the outage occurred just before 1:30 p.m. Reports of the outage extended through areas of Yucca Valley, Yucca Mesa, and Joshua Tree, leaving more than 6100 customers, including homes and businesses, without power. Power was restored to many customers by around 3 p.m., but some businesses, including the Yucca Valley Walmart, had to wait until after 7 p.m. to reopen after receiving power. Z107.7 was unable to locate any reports from Southern California Edison revealing the cause of the outage.
