MORE MASK DISRUPTIONS CAUSE MUSD BOARD TO ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION

Last night’s regular session meeting of the Morongo Unified School District adjourned to closed session, as several in attendance refused to comply with masking requirements for the meeting. Assignment reporter Chris Fleischman is here with details from the meeting…

The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees met in regular session last night at Joshua Tree Elementary School, and the meeting was again adjourned to closed session after a handful of those attending refused to follow the masking requirement. Board President Cathy Nelson reminded the public that masks need to be worn appropriately, and she adjourned the meeting to closed session when some in attendance refused to comply. After yet another disruption from a member of the public, the closed session meeting went forward behind locked doors.

The meeting was adjourned in accordance with Board Bylaw 9823 and Government Code § 54957.9, which permit Board representatives to continue meeting while a member of the press is present.

The trustees voted unanimously to approve the revised School Plan for Student Achievement for La Contenta Middle School, in addition to raising the Federal Micro-Purchase Threshold for the district.
