We have some updated information about the body that was found burning in the Sunfair Dry Lake Bed in Joshua Tree last week. The body belonged to a person who was reported missing to the Los Angeles Police Department-West Division. Just before 9 a.m. Friday, firefighters were called out to the dry lake for a fire, and they quickly saw that it was an obviously dead body that had been set on fire. During the investigation, Morongo Basin Sheriff’s detectives learned that the body was that of a missing person case being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department. The identity of the man has not been released and the LAPD Homicide division has taken over the investigation.
