MORE ABOUT A 77-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

We have more information about the 77-year-old man who was arrested Sunday, accused of attempted murder. Robert Cariker, of the 5600 block of Maloof Lane in Johnson Valley, had a dispute with a tenant over money, and allegedly took a shotgun and shot out two tires on the tenant’s 2000 Ford Excursion, and one tire on the trailer being towed behind the Excursion. The victim fled the scene in his vehicle and the shooting was reported about 5 p.m. Robert Cariker was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, with his bail set at $1 million. Cariker was arraigned in Joshua Tree Superior Court yesterday; the attempted murder charge was changed to five other charges: shooting at a vehicle, two counts of assault with a firearm on a person, and two counts of criminal threats which will result in death or bodily injury. After pleading not guilty to all charges, Cariker’s bail was reduced to $650,000.
