MOJAVE TRAILS NATIONAL MONUMENT INFORMATION SESSION AND LECTURE FRIDAY

Mojave Trails National Monument exemplifies the remarkable ecology of the Mojave Desert, the desert landscape also forged the unique human history of the area. Join BLM Manager of the Mojave Trails National Monument, Kyle Sullivan in a discussion of the history and future of this incredible area and the people and policies that forged it. Sullivan’s presentation is Friday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Old Schoolhouse Museum on National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms. Sullivan has a bachelor’s degree in earth science and a master’s in natural resource management. Sponsored by the Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park and the Twentynine Palms Historical Society, this lecture is open to the public and is $5 per person at the door. There is an optional dinner with speaker at 5 p.m. at the 29 Palms Inn, reservations are limited and attendees pay for their own meal. RSVP for dinner at 760-367-5537 by Wednesday, January 8.

Prior to the lecture, Sullivan will be at the 29 Palms Visitor Center from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. to provide information about dispersed camping, off-road adventure, the best places for stargazing, rock hounding, and wildlife viewing, to where to find pristine sand dunes, rugged mountain ranges, and incredible WWII history. This will be a great opportunity for visitors to pick up area road maps and BLM brochures that will help guide them on their next adventure to Mojave Trails National Monument.
