MOJAVE ROAD SCHOOL BUS JOINS ARTIFACTS AT GOFF’S SCHOOLHOUSE

The legendary “Mojave Road” school bus has a new home at the Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association’s Goffs Cultural Center. The rusted, bullet-riddled bus was abandoned over 35 years ago along a stretch of old Mojave Road. Over those years, it became a quirky roadside attraction for anyone traveling down Mojave Road. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has more on the bus and its long journey to where it now resides…

Bus at Mojave Desert Land Trust headquarters in Joshua Tree

In 2016, the Mojave Desert Land Trust acquired the 5-acre parcel of land on which the legendary “Mojave Road” school bus had been sitting. The bus was moved to the MDLT headquarters in Joshua Tree in 2018 and, shortly after, MDLT transferred ownership of the bus to the Mojave Desert Heritage & Cultural Association (MDHCA).

Bus in its original location

The bus is now located at Goffs Cultural Center, continuing to be a part of the Mojave Road experience and waiting to see, or reconnect, with future visitors. A future dedication ceremony for the bus is being planned. Visit the links below for details. Goffs Cultural Center is located at 37198 Lanfair Road in Essex, California.
