MISTRIAL IN CASE OF YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER

A judge declared a mistrial Wednesday in the case against a Yucca Valley teacher who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student. When the jury came back into court Wednesday morning and said they could not reach a unanimous verdict, Judge Bert Swift declared a mistrial in the case against Zachary Miller, 34, who is charged with three felony counts of unlawful sex with a minor and three felony counts of lewd conduct with a minor. The District Attorney’s office told Z107.7 it has no intention whatsoever of dropping the case against Zachary Miller, who is free on $225,000 bail. School officials notified the Sheriff’s department a year ago that they believed Zachary Miller was having an inappropriate relationship with the female student, and he was arrested last March.
