A tourist who went missing from a short-term rental in Morongo Valley was found safe in Los Angeles. Sheriff’s deputies say that the man, who was not identified, went to a rental in the 8700 block of Ramona Trail with friends. The group was drinking until late at night. One man became angry and started to walk away about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. When his friends tried to stop him, he became argumentative. They last saw him heading toward Highway 62. The missing man had his wallet and money, but not his phone, food, or water. When he hadn’t returned Sunday morning, his friends called the rental owner about noon, who called deputies to help in a search for him. A Sheriff’s helicopter was called in to help in the search, and deputies performed an area search for the missing man. Deputies later learned the man had been found safe in Los Angeles by Los Angeles police.
