The 12-year-old boy who went missing Wednesday afternoon was found safe Thursday afternoon. Sheriff’s Sergeant Robert Warrick said the boy had been suspended from school at La Contenta Middle School for fighting, and he did not want to go home to face his parents. Warrick said the boy had thought about going home late Wednesday night, but saw the police and his family looking for him, so he spent the night the night elsewhere. The Sheriff’s Department used reverse 9-1-1 calls to notify neighbors that the boy was missing, and used a helicopter to search for him Wednesday night, all to no avail. The boy was found Thursday afternoon when he went to the 7-11 store in Yucca Valley, and the clerk—who knew the boy—notified his mother, who called the Sheriff’s investigators about 2:30 to let them know he was home safe and sound.
