MINOR INJURY ROLL-OVER CRASH CLOSES BACK GATE TO COMBAT CENTER

A woman received minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Twentynine Palms. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Joan Griffin, Corbie Johnson, 30, of Twentynine Palms, and her 4-year-old son, were in a 2010 Hyundai Genesis traveling northbound on Morongo Road. At about 7:18 a.m., Johnson attempted to make a left turn onto Pole Line Road, directly into the path of a Ford F250 driven by Breanna Sotelo, 24, also of Twentynine Palms. The force of the collision flipped the truck upside down onto its roof. Johnson and Sotelo, who were both wearing their seatbelts, were able to get out of their vehicles on their own. Johnson’s son was in his car seat and did not even receive a scratch. Johnson was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center with minor injuries. The crash closed Morongo Road leading to and from the back gate to the Combat Center; the California Highway Patrol did not clear the road until 9:15 a.m.
