The public is invited to honor United States service members who died while serving in the military at an Observance that will take place at the Joshua Tree Memorial Park this Monday (Memorial Day). It is a time of remembrance and reflection on the sacrifices they made. Veterans and active-duty members will also be honored.
The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with an hour-long formal ceremony that includes the placing of memorial wreaths, a white dove release, a bagpiper and bugler, advancing and retiring of the colors and playing of taps.
Guest speakers, invocation deliverers, and participants will include Chaplain (CDR) Martin, Sgt Edwards (Color Guard Director), Yucca Valley Mayor Jeff Drozd, Chaplain Joe Anderson, and Pastor BJ Huether (Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel). Organizations in attendance include, but aren’t limited to, the Yucca Valley Elks Lodge 2314, American Legion Post 761, Joshua Tree VFW Post 7264, Yucca Valley Emblem Club 411, and Wiefels Funeral Directors.
