MILD EARTHQUAKE RATTLES TWENTYNINE PALMS MARINE BASE SATURDAY

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake Saturday morning centered on the Twentynine Palms Marine Base. The temblor occurred at 4:52 a.m. at a depth of 0.6 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The USGS said the epicenter was 30 miles north of Joshua Tree, 32 miles north-northwest of Twentynine Palms, 33 miles north-northeast of Yucca Valley and 39 miles east-northeast of Big Bear City. There were no reports of damage or injury.
