The National Endowment for the Arts has organized a month-long celebration and community read event called The Big Read. Inspired by Emily St. John Mandel’s national best seller, “Station Eleven,” events associated with the Big Read focus on themes of survival, legacy, and community. Rebecca Havely has your invitation to a spoken word event with community at its heart…
Mil-Tree presents “Trust in Times of Crisis,” a spoken-word event to be held at the community-built Joshua Tree Lake RV and Campground’s sanctuary.
Mil-Tree’s mission is to bring veterans, active duty, and civilians together through arts and dialogue to help transform the wounds of war. In addition to the spoken word poetry, veterans and their families will also share their stories.
This event takes place Saturday, September 14 at 5 p.m. The Big Read also features art exhibits, panels, workshops and so much more.
