Former mayor and current Yucca Valley Town Councilmember Merl Abel has announced his intention to seek another Council term in the November election. Abel has served since June 2011 when he was appointed to fill a vacant Council seat. Having previously served on the Town’s Planning Commission, Traffic Commission, and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission, Abel has been involved as a volunteer with the local government since 1993. He cites his well-rounded experience as well as his ongoing interest in careful management of local resources as his primary qualifications for running. Three Council seats will be up in the November election.
