Memorial Day Observance at Joshua Tree Memorial Park this Monday (5/26)

The public is invited to honor United States service members who died while serving in the military at an Observance that will take place at the Joshua Tree Memorial Park this Monday. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with an hour-long formal ceremony that includes the placing of memorial wreaths, a white dove release, a bagpiper and bugler, advancing and retiring of the colors and playing of taps.

The ceremony will be a time of remembrance and reflection on the sacrifices they made. 

Veterans and active-duty members will also be honored.

Guest speakers, invocation deliverers, and participants will include Chaplain Martin, Color Guard Director Sgt Edwards, Yucca Valley Mayor Jeff Drozd, Chaplain Joe Anderson, and Pastor BJ Huether.

Organizations in attendance include, but aren’t limited to, the Yucca Valley Elks Lodge 2314, American Legion Post 761, Joshua Tree VFW Post 7264, Yucca Valley Emblem Club 411, and Wiefels Funeral Directors.

The Joshua Tree Memorial Park is located just west of Joshua Tree on Twentynine Palms Highway and Memorial Drive, across from the Mojave Desert Land Trust. The event begins at 11:00 a.m.
