Earlier this month, administrators from the Dhamma Dena Meditation Center on Copper Mountain Mesa organized a meeting about wireless communication towers and the rights of property owners. That meeting caught the attention of telecommunications giant Frontier Communications. Here’s reporter Mike Lipsitz with news of a follow up meeting…
If you’ve noticed more Frontier Communications service vehicles in our area lately, it’s because the company is taking part in the Federal Communications Commission’s Connect America Program. Operating with federal grant funds, Frontier is expanding internet broadband and wireless access in Morongo Basin. While many will be happy to see expanded internet access, others are feeling trampled upon. Regardless of where you stand, you can learn more about the program and activities by Frontier and its contractors at a public meeting Thursday, November 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Community Center on Sunburst Street in Joshua Tree. Representatives from Frontier, Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe’s office, and the County Department of Special Districts will be on hand to discuss the program and answer questions or concerns from the public.
