The Mojave Desert Land Trust recently acquired nearly 36 acres near Cottonwood Canyon in Mojave National Preserve. This parcel has beautiful mountain views and dense vegetation, and requires some cleanup before it can be transferred to the National Park Service. There are two small abandoned structures in addition to numerous dump sites and metal debris. The Land Trust is working with Mojave National Preserve archeologists to assess all items for historic significance that would require them to remain untouched. To date, the Mojave Desert Land Trust has acquired and transferred over 17,000 acres to the Mojave National Preserve.
