At Thursday’s (March 23) meeting of the Morongo Basin Transit Authority, directors will hold a public hearing on a grant request of more than $855,000 to purchase five vehicles. Directors will also hear a presentation on the transportation reimbursement escort program. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. at the MBTA Operations Center, 62405 Verbena Road in Joshua Tree.
For the ninth time, the Morongo Basin Transit Authority received the highest safety rating from the California Highway Patrol during its annual inspection on the agency’s buses, and maintenance, operator, drug, and alcohol records. MBTA General Manager Mark Goodale said that receiving the CHP’s highest rating “gives the public a sense of confidence” that the local bus service is complying with mandated regulations.
