MBCA OFFERS SCHOLARSHIP FOR CLIMATE COURSE

The Morongo Basin Conservation Association is offering two full scholarships for enrollment in the University of California Climate Stewards course for two students. Gary Daigneault has more information about Climate Stewards program and how to apply for the scholarship.

The Climate Stewards program is a 10-week in-person and online college-level interdisciplinary course at UC Riverside Palm Desert Campus. It offers science-based instruction to expand students’ knowledge and understanding of climate issues, with the goal of preparing them to work within their community as part of climate change solutions and adaptation.

The cost of the course is $375, but the MBCA is offering a scholarship for two students who are either Morongo Basin residents or MBCA Members. Anyone interested in the Climate Stewards program must attend an informational meeting at the UC Riverside Palm Desert Campus on Saturday, August 13 at 9 a.m. Applications for the scholarship must be sent to the MBCA before that meeting.

If you are interested, apply to the Climate Stewards program before or immediately after the August 13 meeting. You should receive notice of acceptance by August 22.

To then apply for the MBCA Climate Stewards scholarship, simply forward your proof of admission to [email protected] by August 26, and you will be contacted about payment.

If there are more than two applicants, the MBCA Scholarship Committee will determine the final disbursement of funds.
