Police are planning DUI checkpoints and extra patrols to catch drivers under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, illegal drugs and prescriptions. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s will have DUI saturation patrols on New Year’s Eve; officers will be out in force. The California Highway Patrol starts its maximum enforcement period, with a focus on speeders, at 6:01 p.m. on Friday.
