Last night’s meeting of the Morongo Basin Community Health Center governing board of directors began with the appointment of Jackie Combs as the center’s new executive director. During director comments, however, seven of the nine governing board members unexpectedly tendered their resignations. The list includes Sue Tsuda, Peggy Toney, Laura Grabow, Rick Tagle, Sandy Potts, Michael Lopez, and Susan Madavan. According to Executive Director Jackie Combs, the situations and circumstances leading to the resignations were only discussed in closed-session meetings and, therefore, could not be discussed publicly. Combs stated that she was disappointed by the outcome and stated that the board will now have to restructure, but emphasized that the resignations will not affect the operation of any of the Morongo Basin Community Health Center clinics.
