Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. will be honored on Monday across the country and here in the Morongo Basin in Twentynine Palms. Managing editor Tami Roleff invites you to join the celebration…
“I have a dream.”
The celebrated civil rights leader, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is probably best known for his unforgettable speech at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., in 1964.
“A dream rooted in the American Dream.”
Commemorating Dr. King’s birthday, which is celebrated Monday, January 16, the Twentynine Palms Bible Baptist Church will hold its 17th annual march.
“That one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed.”
The one-mile march celebrating All Lives Matter starts at 8 a.m. at Little Church of the Desert, 6079 Adobe Road and ends at Palms Southern Baptist Church, 5285 Adobe Road. (Marchers should arrive at the church at 7:30 a.m.) Following the march at 9:30 will be a program with local speakers and music, followed by a free lunch.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that ALL men are created equal.”
The public is invited to join in the march and attend the program.
