MARINES WILL NOT USE JOHNSON VALLEY IN 2019

The Marine Corps announced Monday, February 4, that the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area will remain open to the public August 1-30, and will not be used for military training during the time period.
The closure of the Shared Use Area for military use was determined to be unnecessary after the Marine Corps revised the scope of training to be conducted in August 2019.

Training conducted in August 2019 will use ranges on the Marine base, including the land acquired through the land expansion. All training will occur within Combat Center boundaries. The Marine Corps will continue its public outreach to ensure the public is informed. Residents are reminded to be aware of and respect base boundaries to avoid trespassing when in the area of the Marine Corps base.

The Marine Corps and the Bureau of Land Management will host a public meeting 10 a.m. April 6, at the Yucca Valley Community Center to answer questions and discuss land use with the public.
