When the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center expanded, it agreed to a shared-use arrangement for some BLM land. As part ofn its outreach promise, the Marine Corps agreed to give off-roaders 12 to 18 months advance notice before it uses the land. Dan Stork reports that there will be a major exercise in the area next year… On Monday July 6, MCAGCC officials informed the Bureau of Land Management on the Marine Corps’ plans to conduct a large-scale exercise throughout August 2016 that will include training in the congressionally established Shared Use Area in Johnson Valley. In December 2013, Congress authorized the use of the Shared Use Area for military training exercises for two 30-day periods annually.
