MARINE FOLLOWS SUSPECTED BURGLAR UNTIL DEPUTIES MAKE ARREST

A convicted burglar was arrested early Tuesday morning, accused of trying to break into a Twentynine Palms home. According to a Sheriff’s report, an active-duty Marine saw a man, later identified as Daniel Weber, 35, trying to break in to his home in the 74700 block of Old Dale Road about 6:15 a.m. Before fleeing the scene, Weber allegedly told the resident he had a gun, although the Marine said he didn’t see one. Weber was pursued by the resident and another Marine, who reported his direction of travel to Sheriff’s deputies. Deputies searched the area and found Weber hiding inside a shed in the yard of a home in the 6800 block of Saladin. Deputies also found stolen property in the same shed. Daniel Weber was arrested for investigation of burglary, and for violating the terms of his parole, and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held without bail. Daniel Weber pleaded guilty to burglary in June 2014.
