Marine Corps Air Ground Combat sound advisory remains until March 1

If you’ve been hearing loud noises throughout the Morongo Basin, you’re not alone. The Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms has issued a sound advisory this week that will remain in effect until March 1.

The Marines and Joint Forces are participating in Service Level Training Exercise 2-24 at the Combat Center. This training exercise includes live-fire mortar, and the deployment of other weapons and ordinances.

Noise from training may be amplified when the cloud cover is low. SLTE provides service-level assessments of units and their associated combat support, combat service support and aviation assets, while conducting live fire training focused on the mission essential tasks of offensive, defensive and stability operations.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, sounds from the training area may be amplified throughout the local area.
