A corporal in the Marine Corps was arrested Saturday, accused of bigamy. According to a Sheriff’s spokesman, Zakarius Harper, whose address is listed in his booking records as being in the 63600 block of Emerson Avenue in Yucca Valley, was questioned Saturday afternoon about having two wives in different states and trying to register both of them for military benefits. Harper is originally from Louisiana and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2017. Zakarius Harper was arrested just before 1 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of bigamy, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, and released on his own recognizance Monday morning. It’s unclear if the Marine Corps will pursue charges against Harper.
