Maritza Carrillo, a financial management analyst on the Twentynine Palm Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center has received the 2016 Latina Style Incorporated Distinguished Civilian Award. The award is designed to recognize women in the military and the DOD civilian workforce who, through their service, have enhanced the role of Latinas in their organization. Carrillo’s supervisor, Kevin Cosgriff, a senior accounting officer, nominated her for the award because of her superior performance in the workplace and volunteer work within the local community.
“The award is given out once a year by the DoD,” Cosgriff said. “It recognizes one civilian and one military member from each branch of the armed forces. I decided to nominate her for her distinguished service. Prior to civilian service, Carrillo served in the supply logistics field as an enlisted Marine for four years,” Carrillo said. “I’m doing what I love, and I hope to be able to continue to volunteer my time helping others.”
