A Marine was arrested Saturday after he pointed a gun at another man during an argument. According to a Sheriff’s report, Robert Coppock, 22, a lance corporal with 2nd Battalion/7th Marine Regiment, was arguing with his wife over infidelity, and she asked some friends to come over to their home in the 5900 block of Aztec Avenue to confront him. Coppock became angry with one of the friends, and when the man refused to leave, Coppock got a pistol and pointed it at the man’s chest about 2 p.m. The two men struggled over the gun before the other man gained control of the weapon. Coppock allegedly admitted to deputies that he should not have pointed the gun at the other person, and that the dispute could have been settled in another way. Robert Coppock was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
