Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a marijuana grow found during a fire in Morongo Valley early Wednesday morning. About 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, residents in the 51800 block of Canyon Road called to report a loud explosion, possible gunfire, and a fire. Morongo Valley firefighters arrived to find that a truck was burning behind a fence, which made it appear as if the house was on fire. Chief Gary Yearsley said that the tires on the truck exploded during the fire, which could have been the sound that neighbors heard. A Sheriff’s report says that during their investigation, they found a Smith and Wesson 9mm and Beretta .40-caliber handgun, along with a marijuana grow. No arrests have been reported at this time.
