Mara's Christmas Wish is in the final stretch with planning the 35th annual community Christmas dinner to be held at the Yucca Valley Community
Center on Christmas Day from 12:30 until 6 p.m. The financial donations and toy donations have continued to pour in, but they still need more help. They are looking for volunteers to assist with the preparation and Christmas dinner service. If you plan to help this year, all volunteers should plan to attend the final planning meeting this coming Tuesday, December 18, at the Yucca Valley Community Center at 6:30 p.m.

Yucca Valley firefighters and Morongo Basin Ambulance will be holding toy drives at Walmart. All the toys collected with stay in the Morongo Basin. Firefighters will be in front of Walmart from 10 to 4 on Saturday, December 15 and 22. MBA will be collecting toys on Sunday, December 16, from 9 to 3. In addition, collection boxes are at the Z107.7 studio in Joshua Tree, the MBA headquarters, 6335 Park Boulevard, and at many Yucca Valley mobile home parks, banks, and at the Yucca Valley Senior Center.

Last Christmas Day, Mara’s Christmas Wish gave out thousands of meals to individuals and families, and Santa gave out toys for children from infants to 13 years old. This wasn’t possible without volunteers who donated in excess of 200 hours during the month of December last year. Mara’s Christmas Wish is always in need of additional volunteers during the Christmas Day event, and in those days leading up to and after the event, as well.
