Man with warrant calls Sheriff to Twentynine Palms, arrested for suspicion of attempted murder

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man in Twentynine Palms on suspicion of attempted murder, false imprisonment, battery, kidnapping, and domestic violence.

On Sunday afternoon (May 12), deputies responded to a call for service from Xander Banda, 26. Deputies say that they found Banda near the location of the call for service, and determined that there was a warrant out for his arrest related to an incident on April 16. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department has not yet provided information about the April 16 incident. 

Xander Banda was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, false imprisonment, battery, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and domestic violence. At his arraignment on Tuesday (May 14), Banda pled not guilty to felony charges related to kidnapping, attempted murder, with enhancements for using a deadly weapon and inflicting great bodily injury.

In 2020, Banda pled guilty to distributing pornography to a minor, and is currently registered as a sex offender in Twentynine Palms.
