A Joshua Tree man was arrested late Monday night, accused of trying to run over a man with his vehicle. According to a Sheriff’s report, Johnny Fortner, 40, was arguing with another man in the 58000 block of Highway 62 about 11:40 p.m. A witness and the victim told deputies that Fortner struck the victim with his car, causing abrasions and swelling to the victim’s left knee. Johnny Fortner was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked into West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
