MAN WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED KNIFEPOINT RAPE IN TWENTYNINE PALMS IN CUSTODY

The man suspected of attempting to rape a woman at knifepoint in Twentynine Palms last month turned himself in to authorities Tuesday. Sheriff officials say on August 16 about 10 p.m., Lynel Roduk, 29, a transient, approached a woman who was standing outside a friend’s home in the 7000 block of Estrella Avenue, threatened her with a knife, and forced her to walk about a block away where he then attempted to rape her at knifepoint. When the woman’s friends came looking for her, she kicked him and was able to escape. Detectives have been searching for Roduk ever since. On Tuesday, Roduk called the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and said he heard he was wanted. When deputies confirmed there was a warrant for his arrest, Roduk said he would turn himself in, but refused to give his location. Shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday, Lynel Roduk turned himself in to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in Palmdale, who informed the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday they had him in custody. Lynel Roduk is being held in LA awaiting transfer to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. His bail is set at $250,000.
