MAN TRIES TO BURN FENCE AROUND LANDERS HOME

A man was arrested Sunday afternoon, accusing of trying to burn down a fence surrounding a Landers home. According to a Sheriff’s report, the woman saw Donnie Johnson, 25, outside her home in the 1900 block of Alta Avenue about 1 p.m. pouring gasoline on her fence and then trying to light the gasoline with a red lighter. The resident grabbed a golf club and chased off Johnson, who fled toward Applegate. After an investigation, deputies located Donnie Johnson in the 59400 block of Rocky Acres and arrested him on suspicion of attempted arson. Johnson was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
