A Yucca Valley man was arrested Sunday morning, accused of throwing rocks at vehicles. Deputies were called to the area of Yucca Trail and La Contenta Drive in Yucca Valley about 6:15 a.m. by a woman who said that a man was walking on the road and throwing rocks at passing vehicles. She said a rock nearly struck her vehicle and she had to swerve into oncoming lanes to avoid being struck. Deputies located a man, later identified as Derek Lamoreux, 32, who matched the suspect’s description near Alta Loma Drive and Olympic Road. Lamoreux allegedly admitted to throwing rocks and trash. Derek Lamoreux was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held on $25,000 bail.
