The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a case of hit-and-run in which a pedestrian was hit by a car in Twentynine Palms Tuesday evening. According to a Sheriff’s report, the male victim was walking in the crosswalk with a green light at Adobe Road and Highway 62 about 6 p.m., when a woman driving a red hatchback, who was in the southbound, left turn lane at Adobe and the Highway, turned eastbound on the highway and hit him on the left side. The victim was thrown to the ground. The report states the woman pulled over, but did not get out of her vehicle, and then drove away northbound on Ocotillo from Highway 62. The victim walked to a nearby convenience store and was later taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
