MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN YUCCA VALLEY, SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

One man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in Yucca Valley and his alleged murderer was arrested after a chase through the neighborhood. At 1:28 p.m., 911 received a call of shots fired in the 6300 block of Hermosa Avenue, at the intersection of Hermosa and Barron. Brian Cline, 29, and Martin Reyes, 35, were arguing in the street when Cline took out a gun and fired several shots at Reyes, hitting him once in the face. Reyes was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center where he subsequently died of the gunshot wound. Assignment reporter Kristy Lockhart was at the scene yesterday and fills in the details about what happened after the shooting…
A shooting suspect is in custody after police surrounded a house off Outer 29 Palms Highway and El Dorado just after 2 p.m. Thursday. Officers cordoned off the area and went in with their weapons drawn. The shooting took place at a house on Barron Street, on the corner of Hermosa and Baron Street, and then the suspect fled on foot. David Emsly saw events unfold. “I pulled up to take a trailer to my house and bunch of people are flagging me down, telling me that this guy shot guy, so my father-in-law and I followed the guy. He ran over here, hopped a couple fences and then the cops came and found him on the roof.”
Brian Cline was taken to the Sheriff’s Department where he was interviewed and place under arrest shortly after midnight this morning for investigation of murder. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center without bail.
