MAN INJURED FOLLOWING CRASH ON QUAD IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

A 19-year-old man received head injuries following a crash on an ATV Wednesday afternoon. According to the Sheriff’s department, the man, who was not identified, and a passenger were riding a quad on a sidewalk southbound on Mesquite Springs Road about 2:15 p.m. The man misjudged a turn near El Paseo Drive and crashed into a retaining wall. The driver was thrown off the quad and hit his head, with the quad resting on top of him. He was not wearing a helmet. The man was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The passenger had fled the scene by the time help arrived.
