Man arrested in Joshua Tree for suspected child abuse

A Banning man was arrested in Joshua Tree for investigation into child abuse with great bodily injury.

On Wednesday (September 27), County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 72000 block of Joshua Drive in Twentynine Palms on a report of disturbance. As part of their investigation, they determined that Marquis Woodberry, a 31 year-old resident of Banning, punched a 15 year-old in the face and punched an adult victim in the face before fleeing the scene.

A report from the Sheriff’s office did not indicate that the victims sought medical assistance.

Deputies say they located Woodberry, who uses the alias “York Boogy,” in a vehicle near the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Sunburst in Joshua Tree.

Marquis Woodberry was arrested for suspicion of felony spousal assault and child endangerment and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail. He is facing addtional felony charges related to burglary and vandalism.
