MAN ARRESTED AFTER VANDALIZING CARS AT A JOSHUA TREE RESTAURANT

A Yucca Valley transient was arrested Friday afternoon, accused of vandalizing several cars at a Joshua Tree restaurant. According to a Sheriff’s report, employees of a restaurant in the 61700 block of 29 Palms Highway called about 3:15 p.m. Friday to report that a man, later identified as Dustin Mattis, 27, was jumping on top of and kicking vehicles, Mattis told deputies he believed the restaurant gave him food poisoning, and he was tired of people messing with him, so he was going to make someone else suffer. Mattis had allegedly jumped on the hood, roof, and windshield of a Honda Fit, causing several thousand dollars’ worth of damage, and kicking the front end of a Cadillac Escalade, causing about $500 worth of damage. Dustin Mattis was arrested for investigation of felony vandalism, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
