A Yucca Valley man was arrested after he shot at deputies late Monday night. According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the 58200 block of Bonanza Drive in Yucca Valley about 10:20 p.m. for a suicidal man with a gun. Inside the home was Rafael Zamora, 42. His girlfriend and her two children were hiding in the bathroom. A deputy went in the home to get the woman and children out safely. Zamora went outside and hid, and fired six shots at the deputy, who was not injured and did not return fire. Additional deputies arrived and made announcements for Zamora to give himself up. After about 10 minutes, Zamora surrendered. Rafael Zamora was arrested for investigation of attempted murder of deputy sheriff and taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment of a drug overdose.
