A man and woman were arrested Wednesday afternoon after they were spotted stealing from Home Depot in Yucca Valley. Deputies were called to the store about 2 p.m. by employees who said that Christian Melendez, 21, of Cherry Valley, had been seen stealing items in the store and had been asked to leave. Melendez allegedly refused to leave and was taunting the employees while his companion, Nikita Campbell, 27, of Beaumont was still inside the store. Deputies arrived and arrested Christian Melendez for investigation of conspiracy to commit a crime and petty theft, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000. Nikita Campbell was arrested on the same charges, cited and released.
