MAN ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY ABUSING TWENTYNINE PALMS CHILDREN FOR YEARS

A Redlands man was arrested Thursday, accused of multiple counts of sexual molestation of two Twentynine Palms children. According to a Sheriff’s report, on February 25, deputies learned that Johnny Villanueva, 33, had sexually molested a child for several years in Twentynine Palms. The abuse began when the child was about 7 years old and continued until the child was 11 years old. (Deputies identified Villanueva as being from Hemet, but his booking address was listed as Redlands.) During the investigation, deputies learned of a second victim, who had also been sexually abused, starting at age 10. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division investigated, and the district attorney issued a $1 million arrest warrant for Villanueva. Johnny Villanueva was charged with eight various counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 and more than 10 years age difference, two counts of attempted sexual abuse, and two charges of criminal threats. In addition, Villanueva had a $350,000 arrest warrant for robbery and assault with a firearm. Johnny Villanueva is scheduled to appear in Joshua Tree Superior Court Monday on the sexual abuse charges.
